History/Mission

History & Mission

For the members of Team Scuba, racing and diving is what they live for! The team of Florida-based racing team joined forces with ScubaLife to introduce the exciting world of sport diving to the millions of racing fans and to become highly competitive in the racing circuit.

Founded in 2006, Team Scuba started off small, racing in the Florida Mini Cup series. With driver Ray Black, Jr. at the wheel and Team Scuba supporting his efforts, the team found great success with FMCRA racing. That same year, Ray Jr. was honored as the 2006 Rookie of the Year and placed first in the series.

The following year Team Scuba signed several sponsors and made its debut on the Florida Open Car Circuit, competing in “GOODYEAR CHALLENGE/LATE MODELS” and “ADVANCED AUTO PARTS/PRO TRUCK” races and achieving top ten finishes in both series.

In 2010, Team Scuba worked to restructure and secure sponsors, which proved to be a difficult task in such a tough economy. Always a fan of diving, Ray Jr. took this opportunity to go back into school and earned his NASE Instructor certification. He also worked offshore for Blacksmith Marine working on the salvage of a 4000-ton dry dock ship that sank off the coast of Cedar Key, Florida.

Team Scuba welcomed NASE Worldwide, ScubaLife and Pit Stop Destinations for the 2011 racing season as sponsors.

Team Scuba appreciates the continuing support from NASE Worldwide, ScubaLife and Pit Stop Destinations and for the 2014 racing season Team Scuba would like to welcome CDA Technical Institute to the team of sponsors.

Join us for an exciting 2014 NASCAR (NCWTS) / Stock Car racing season and Ray Black Jr.’s entery into the 2014 season of NASCAT Camping World Truck Series with the first race for Jr at the Korger 250 at Martinsville Speedway.
